English language teachers around the world today are faced with a multitude of teaching materials, from numerous good quality textbooks, various additional materials, all the way to the posssibility of applying ICT in their teaching practice. Majority of the material contains interesting and challenging exercises based on communicative and interactive approach in foreign language teaching whose aim is to improve the four basic skills- listening, reading, writing and speaking, to develop fluency and promote accuracy, as well as to provide context for grammar structures, functional units and vocabulary. The general opinion is that there is no single most appropriate method in language learning. Successful teachers will not confine themselves to only one method, rather they will explore and use various possibilities in order to satisfy the needs and interests of their students in the best possible way. This paper gives a detailed description of dictogloss technique. The author discusses the various advantages of the technique with the aim to contribute to the improvement of the quality of teaching practice.
