Publication policy

One author may publish only one article in the annual issue of the journal, as an author or co-author, respecting the given instructions for publishing papers and the guidelines given in the editorial policy.

Any individual or institution may at any time report to the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial office knowledge of violations of ethical standards and other irregularities, and provide the necessary information and evidence.

Verification of the allegations and evidence presented:

  • The editor-in-chief, in agreement with the editorial staff, will decide on the initiation of a procedure aimed at verifying the allegations and evidence presented.
  • During that procedure, all presented evidence will be considered confidential material and will be presented only to persons who are directly involved in the procedure.
  • Individuals suspected of violating ethical standards will be given an opportunity to respond to allegations made against them.
  • If it is established that irregularities have indeed occurred, it will be assessed whether they should be characterized as a minor offense or a gross violation of ethical standards.

A minor violation of ethical standards

Situations characterized as a minor offense will be resolved in direct communication with the persons who committed the same, without the involvement of third parties, in the following manner:

  • by notifying the authors and reviewers of the manuscript that there has been a minor offense resulting from a misunderstanding or misapplication of academic standards;
  • a warning letter to the author and reviewers who committed a minor offense.

 Serious violation of ethical standards Decisions related to serious violations of ethical standards are made by the editor-in-chief in cooperation with the editorial office and, if necessary, a group of experts from the scientific field from which the manuscript for which there is established evidence that it seriously violated ethical standards.The measures that, in that case, will be taken by the editorial office of the magazine are the following:● withdrawal of a published paper in accordance with the procedure described under Withdrawal of already published papers;● authors will be prohibited from submitting papers to the journal for the next five years.

When resolving disputed situations, the editors of the Nova škola magazine, a magazine for the theory and practice of modern schools and preschools, are guided by the guidelines and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE): http://publicationethics.org/resources/.

WITHDRAWAL OF ALREADY PUBLISHED WORKS

In case of violation of the rights of publishers, copyright holders or authors, violation of professional ethical codes, i.e. in the case of sending the same manuscript to several journals at the same time, false claims of authorship, plagiarism, manipulation of data for the purpose of fraud, as well as in all other cases of serious violation of ethical standards, the published work must be withdrawn. In certain cases, an already published work can be withdrawn in order to correct subsequently observed errors.

The standards for resolving situations when work must be withdrawn are defined in the relevant scientific institutions and scientific bodies, and the same practice was adopted in the Nova škola magazine, a magazine for the theory and practice of contemporary school and preschool education: in the electronic version of the original article (the one withdraws) a link (HTML link) is established with the withdrawal notification. A retracted article is saved in its original form, but with a watermark on the PDF document, on each page, indicating that the article has been retracted (RETRACTED).
