Modern teaching is based on the idea that the educational process should be focused on every person as an individual with the aim of helping him/her as much as possible to discover and develop his/her own potential. The paper is devoted to the study of self actualization of the students of the Faculty of Education to examine differences in actualization of their selves. Comparing these two stages, we have tried to find out how the students managed to build their own selves through the process of higher education and thus lay the foundation for the development of competencies needed for fulfilling the role of a good teacher. The instrument used in the study is specially designed for this paper and is inspired by Maslow's theory of self actualization.
