Abstract

Continuous improvement of the educational system and its compliance with the requirements of modern society necessarily requires improving the quality of the teaching process through innovation and professional development. Professional development of teachers is process that refers to the continuous development of knowledge, skills and abilities and contribute to improving the quality of work, strengthening motivation and develops the system of evaluation and self-evaluation . Professional development of teachers is an open, dynamic and ongoing process that involves the transfer of new knowledge from various professional fields and disciplines into the world of practice and monitoring European trends in terms of improving the quality of education. On the basis of themes and target groups, professional development programs, we analyzed the accredited programs offered to the Catalogue of Professional Development for Education for 2010/2011 school year, which actualizes the application of innovation in the teaching process. Application of innovations in teaching is examined through self-evaluation, which provides objective data about the quality of schools in all major segments.
